Patel Pictures was looking for a conceptual key art proposal for Inheritance, a short film about a family shaped by loss, tension, and an unexpected decision surrounding the family home.
We started with several key elements: the mother, as a symbol of family, protection, home, and togetherness; fire, representing conflict, pain, and purification; and absence, conveyed through a sense of loss and grief.

Together with Patel Pictures, we developed the concept design around the composition in which the mother and the urn take center stage. The void in her chest represents the absence of her husband and the distance between her and her children. The urn gives physical form to that loss, connecting both concepts.
The fire introduces an underlying tension and adds a sense of drama, while the composition concentrates the emotional weight around the central elements.
